Central Road at a standstill

Your local Lib Dem councillors are deeply disappointed that the linking of the traffic lights on Central Road has yet again been put on hold despite Tory Mayor Johnson’s promise that it would be resolved quickly. In a reply to a query from Councillor Kirsty Jerome regarding the delay, the Mayor stated in July that the work would be completed in August; it is now October and we are still waiting.

All the preliminary work was completed by Sutton and Kingston Councils over 9 months ago and Transport For London (TfL) now need to finish the job. TfL are making the excuse that Southern Gas need to dig up a small section of the road they need to work on and that they cannot start their work until the gas company have finished. Your Lib Dem councillors think this is a lame excuse for the delay as the gas company have yet to start work.

Come on Mayor Johnson – keep your promise and get Central Road Moving!
